Canada's professional science fiction magazine launches, despite its phantom backer

We reported back in May on attempts to launch a new Canadian professional science fiction webzine called AE, after A.E. Van Vogt. The magazine was trying to raise money via Kickstarter, but met with tragedy when its biggest donor turned out to be non-existent. The good news is, AE is launching after all, putting out its first issue later this month. And it's soliciting content from Canadian writers and illustrators, paying 6 cents (Canadian) per word — later, the magazine will also be open to international contributors. There's also an art contest seeking the best illustration of the Black Destroyer from Van Vogt's story of the same name. So Canadians, go to it! [AE — The Canadian Science Fiction Review]
