Chronicle director Josh Trank’s recent success has tied his name to every potential geek flick in the works. First, there were rumors he would reboot the Fantastic Four, then it was Venom, and now comes another new comic book adaptation right out of left-field.

Deadline reports that Trank’s slated to direct an adaptation of Christian Gossett’s The Red Star, which is set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union is alive, growing, and using magic on a day-to-day basis. Here’s the official synopsis from Amazon:
