Dell finally fixes the Axim X5. We think.

We can barely keep track of what the hell is going on with this, but apparently Dell is shipping a fix for its Axim X5 Pocket PCs running the new Pocket PC 2003 operating system. It turned out that Axim X5’s with the new version of the OS ran more slowly than they had under the older version of the OS. Anyway, if you bought an Axim X5 running Pocket PC 2003 before July 16th, they’ve already started shipping out the patch. But if you just want to upgrade an X5 running Pocket PC 2002, you’re going to have to wait a little longer, until September 17th. Unless you happen to live in Europe, in which case they’re already sending out the upgrades to users who live there. It’s a messy conclusion to what has turned out to be a confusing months-long saga.
