Hulk Movies

Mark Ruffalo discusses the potential for a standalone Hulk movie:

But when you put that guy in a group of other people that are like him, that get him, that understand him, and you force him to be and to have to deal with those people in these different situations, then you get to see who that guy is. You get to see his charm, his personality, his sense of humor, what ticks him off, what he’s afraid of — all of these things, because we know people by how they interact with other people, in a lot of ways. So that was a stroke of genius. That’s a place where Banner really works well.

I think it does work well there, and I do think there’s a future. And I don’t think it’s one where it’s just Banner maybe by himself... I’m not sure. We did the origin story of Banner, unless we go way, way back — which we could do. I also think there’s some really cool, interesting terrain to explore between Banner and the Hulk, like really, and that struggle between the two of them, and the melding of the two of them. So like we get a little taste of it when Banner comes out of the Veronica battle, the Hulkbuster, and he wakes up in the rubble, and the Hulk, you almost see the Hulk has a little bit of Banner’s remorse, even before he turns into Banner. And where that seam is, there’s some interesting stuff in there that I think we could explore.

Captain America: Civil War

Scarlett Johansson talks about the scope of the film in comparison to The Winter Soldier, and working with the Russo brothers:

I’m excited to work with the Russos again, they have a very different approach to this universe than Joss [Whedon], just different,” said Johansson. “It will be interesting to see how they treat all of these new characters. When we were doing Cap 2 the film felt very much like we were doing a kind of ‘70s style car-chase political thriller; it had that kind of flavor, but they were also dealing with far less characters, the stakes were just different. Now with Civil War it’s gonna be interesting to see how they set up this next phase. I think Cap 3 is definitely sort of like a pre-Avengers 3 and 4, it feels like that, whereas Cap 2 didn’t feel like necessarily it was part of The Avengers. I mean, it does and it feels like a piece that fits in, but it didn’t feel like it was leading you into Avengers 2.

Salt shakers at the ready, but here’s another rumor from Umberto Gonzalez, claiming that Asa Butterfield is currently the the lead candidate of five to become the new Peter Parker.

Suicide Squad

A rumour is circulating that the heavily tattooed and highly memetic version of the Joker we saw last Friday may not be the Joker look that appears in the movie at all. Joblo claims that Jared Leto’s Joker will have a whiter skin tone, and no tattoos — instead he is covered in scars from fights with Batman, which what the tattoos in the picture might have been added to cover up. The metallic teeth caps are also apparently a new addition just for that promo picture. As ever, pinch of salt.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Making Star Wars has a description of an action scene from the middle of the film, where Han Solo nearly crash lands the Millennium Falcon on a snow planet (presumably the one occupied by First Order forces glimpsed in the trailer) after a daring hyperspace exit, ending in Han being consoled by Finn over something relating to villain Kylo Ren. Jurassic World

Colin Trevorrow says that a familiar face returns in the movie — the original T-Rex from Jurassic Park:

The T. rex that’s in the film is the T. rex from the original Jurassic Park. She is 22 years older. But she’s not limping around.

An iconic scene from the original film is recreated in this Collider-exclusive clip.

Doctor Who

Writing in response to a fan question in the latest Doctor Who Magazine, Steven Moffat says the mystery surrounding the Twelfth Doctor recognising his new face (Peter Capaldi previously played a character in the episode “The Fires of Pompeii”) will be resolved in the next season:

I really enjoyed the scene in Deep Breath when The Doctor says to the tramp, “Why did I choose this face? It’s like I’m trying to tell myself something...” Will we ever get an explanation of why Caecilius from The Fires of Pompeii has the same face as The Twelfth Doctor?

Thank you, I like that scene too. And yes, we’re coming back to that idea. In fact, we’ll be shooting the scene in question really quite shortly...

Peter Davison discusses the potential for a second “Five-ish Doctors” sketch:

“There are two problems, really, in my head. I wouldn’t want to do [a sequel] if it was half-hearted and nowhere near as good as the other one, so it would have to be a good enough idea,” Davison said.

“The other problem – and it’s a fairly major one – is we had probably the best cast you can imagine,” he added. “Literally everyone said yes – with one exception – and it’s very difficult to imagine getting that cast together again… and not paying them!”

“I couldn’t really ring up people and ask them to do a day for no money at all – their patience might run out! So if I did come up with a good enough idea, I’d then have to figure out a way of actually paying them some money! All these things are not impossible, but I wouldn’t even want to go down that road unless I thought it could be better.”

Iron Fist, like Dr Strange, really would benefit from moving away from the mighty whitey undertones and history by casting an actor of color.
