Prime Big Deal Days has not started, and several of the prices people plan to wait for are already live on Amazon. That raises the usual question of whether to buy now or hold out for the event. I kept six deals from this week with one test in mind: would I regret the purchase if the price did not move again during the sale? For these six, I wouldn’t. Only one of them requires a Prime membership.
1. Apple MacBook Air 13-Inch With M5
Apple keeps its own store at list price, which is why a discount on a 2026 Mac is worth taking when it shows up elsewhere. The 13-inch MacBook Air with the M5 chip is $1,099 instead of $1,299 on Amazon, in Midnight, with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Apple quotes up to 18 hours of battery life, and the laptop has Wi-Fi 7 and a 12MP Center Stage camera. The compromise is the port count: two Thunderbolt 4 ports plus MagSafe, so an adapter is likely if you use HDMI. Prime membership is not required.
2. Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire
This is the largest saving of the six in dollars, and the lowest price this watch has reached. The 47 mm epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire is $529.99 instead of $999.99 on Amazon in Carbon Gray DLC titanium with a black band. It has a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen under a sapphire lens, an LED flashlight in the case, multi-band GPS and onboard maps, along with Garmin’s training tools such as hill score and endurance score. It is more watch than a casual walker needs, and that is the only reason I’d hesitate.
3. Breville Barista Express
Amazon’s best-selling semi-automatic espresso machine has a conical burr grinder on top, so one appliance takes you from whole beans to a shot. The Barista Express BES870XL is $499.95 instead of $689.99 on Amazon in Brushed Stainless Steel, and the Black Sesame and Black Truffle finishes are at the same price. Digital temperature control and low-pressure pre-infusion handle the extraction, while the milk is steamed by hand with the wand. Expect a few failed cups while you learn it.
4. Ninja Foodi Smart XL Indoor Grill
This is the one deal on the list reserved for Prime members, as an early Prime Big Deal Days offer. The Ninja Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 is $199.99 instead of $279.99 on Amazon. It grills with air heated to 500°F, and a probe thermometer with nine doneness levels tells the machine when the meat is ready, which I find more useful than any of the five other cooking modes. The grate holds up to six steaks. Measure your counter first, because Amazon’s listing does not give the dimensions.
5. Ring Battery Doorbell 2K
Amazon tends to cut its own brands ahead of its sales, and Ring’s newest battery doorbell is part of that. The Ring Battery Doorbell 2K is $39.99 instead of $99.99 on Amazon in three colors, with or without Prime. It records in 2K, sends motion alerts to your phone and lets you talk to whoever is at the door. Two things to know before ordering: the USB-C charging cable is not in the box, and recorded video history requires a Ring Protect subscription.
6. Amazon Smart Plug
The cheapest item here is also the easiest to justify. The Amazon Smart Plug is $12.98 instead of $24.99 on Amazon, and the 2-pack is $23.98, open to all customers. It adds Alexa voice control and schedules to anything with a physical on/off switch, such as a lamp, a fan or a basic coffee maker, and it needs no hub. The listing mentions Alexa only, so I would skip it for a Google Home or Apple Home setup.
