Marvel Snap is a free CCG (collectible card game) set in the Marvel universe, where you need to collect cards from hundreds of available ones that feature heroes and villains. You can find characters from Avengers, X-Men, and other hit titles, and the title speeds up the usual dynamic of games in that genre.
With Marvel Snap, you don't have long matches, because they last only for 6 turns and are really intense, so you need to think strategically about every move you make. There are three randomized locations you can play on, each of which introduces its own set of rules. They change where you can place your cards and what kind of combos you can generate, and they can highly influence the outcome of the one-versus-one matches. If you are able to control 2 out of 3 locations, you win.
Every player's deck in Marvel Snap consists of 12 cards, and each of them has a different character or artifact from Marvel on it. They can interact with the location effects and have abilities that can affect other cards with their unique skills. You can download Marvel Snap for Windows computers and smartphones or tablets running on iOS and Android.
Why should I download Marvel Snap?
While digital collectible card games usually last about 30 minutes, in Marvel Snap, you play for approximately 3 minutes in each match. Because of the number of turns limited to 6 and the fact that you play your cards with your opponents at the same time, the gameplay is highly dynamic and fast-paced. Marvel Snap is a great title if you just want a quick break or don't have the time to play longer matches.
Even though Marvel Snap has quite simple mechanics, because you just need to have more total Power on your cards than your opponent, the game is pretty hard the more you play. Each of your cards has a specific Power value on it, and at the end of the game, you need to win at least 2 out of 3 locations. The game gets more complicated because of each card's different abilities and how they can interact with other cards or the game board.
For each match, Marvel Snap randomly chooses 3 from over 100 locations, so you never know what your battlefield will be or what abilities it will have. Some of them double the power of your cards, and others might block you from playing cards after a specific turn. This forces you to change your strategies on the fly and makes each game a new challenge.
Marvel Snap also has a mechanic called "Snap" that allows you to double the stake of the match at any time. If the player you're playing against believes they have the right cards to win, still, they can keep on playing or choose to retreat. Use it for bluffing and putting pressure on your opponent because you don't necessarily need to have better cards; you might just want to screw the other person into giving up, so you can win the match.
In Marvel Snap, you also need to upgrade your collection levels because the game doesn't allow buying randomized card packs. Instead, you have to upgrade individual cards you own with credits you earn by playing. As you take your card from 2D image to 3D, to animated, and then to a fully foiled card, you can unlock new cards.
With regular updates that bring new cards, locations, and community events, Marvel Snap is constantly changing and offering new challenges. There are themed Season Passes and new cards they release every week, and you can download Marvel Snap for free on iOS or Android smartphones and tablets, or get it for your Windows computer through Steam.
Is Marvel Snap free?
Yes, Marvel Snap is a free-to-play title that lets you unlock new cards by just playing the game, not necessarily buying them. While it offers in-app purchases, these are mostly for cosmetic changes.
However, upgrading your card visuals with the Gold you purchase does raise your collection level and gives you access to more cards. You can also purchase a Season Pass that changes every month and offers an exclusive card and other premium rewards.
What operating systems are compatible with Marvel Snap?
Marvel Snap is a mobile-first game that was also optimized for computers. You can download it on iOS 13.0 or newer, Android 7.0 and up, and Windows 7 or later.
The game doesn't have extensive system requirements, so you on PCs can run it even on older devices.
