R.E.P.O. is a horror shooter in which you co-op with up to 6 other players. You need to repossess valuable objects while avoiding defense systems and solving puzzles. The game can be downloaded on Steam for Windows computers.

About R.E.P.O.

R.E.P.O.(Recovery & Extraction of Property Operations) is a game where you must salvage as much as you can from corporate offices without being detected by security systems. You and your team of up to 6 players get 40 minutes of in-game time to take as many valuable objects as you can and get back to your ship to collect the paycheck.

You and other players need to collaborate in R.E.P.O. to succeed in operating malfunctioning machinery, dodging defense mechanisms, and navigating the labyrinth of corridors. Each mission is different from the previous one as it is procedurally generated, and you get a new set of objectives every time. These can include unlocking some rooms, coordinating lifts, extracting rare materials, or avoiding trip wires.

The whole gameplay uses physics-driven interactions and requires you to solve environmental puzzles collaboratively, so you might need to carry objects, stack crates together, hold doors open for other players, and perform various other actions. You don't have a lot of time, so you need to communicate effectively and quickly through a voice chat to come up with solutions. You can download R.E.P.O. through Steam for Windows computers and play it solo or in multiplayer mode.

Why should I download R.E.P.O.?

R.E.P.O. merges co-op mechanics with unpredictable missions and challenges based on physics while remaining in a light, humorous tone throughout each session. The task you may be charged with could seem absurd to you and your friends, while also forcing you all to think on the spot and react quickly with creative solutions.

What's unique about R.E.P.O. is its moment-to-moment dynamic, where you need to cooperate and improvise on the fly. Each mission is different, and sometimes you need to go through a corridor with motion-tracking cameras, but another time you have to solve puzzles while also avoiding a drone that can neutralize your equipment. The gameplay and the environment are procedurally generated, so they can always surprise you with a new mechanic.

How you handle objects in R.E.P.O. adds to the challenge, as the mechanic is based on real-life physics, so you must pick up, carry, pass, or throw objects with care and precision. The system is a bit clumsy, which can generate unpredictable issues as you try to complete the mission. You also need to communicate with other players, as you often start the game in different rooms, so the voice chat can come in handy to determine who stays behind to open the door and who moves forward to collect as many objects as possible.

In R.E.P.O., you can also equip various items that can help you meet the mission goals. The tools include repulsion packs that you can use to fly short distances, magnetizers to pull metal objects or doors, holographic decoys to distract security or create temporary platforms, or EMP orbs that you can throw to disable electronics.

You can play R.E.P.O. with a team or solo, and then the game generates your squad with AI, so you can focus on solving puzzles rather than collaborating.  The objectives in the game change dynamically and can include item recovery, stealth navigation, escorting broken drones or machinery, or surviving an emergency lockdown. While your main goal is to recover objects to earn money, sometimes you need to abandon your loot and escape before your location is destroyed, or you run out of air.

The game perfectly balances sci-fi horror and dynamic co-op, adding a humorous layer with over-the-top animations, upbeat soundtrack, and cartoonish design. R.E.P.O. is a quick game that doesn't bore you even on multiple replays, so that you can enjoy it every time. You can download R.E.P.O. for Windows PCs using Steam.

Is R.E.P.O. free?

No, R.E.P.O. is not a free game, but its price is rather low, as the game comes from an indie publisher. The title is offered through a one-time payment, and you can also get it through various promos. Once you purchase the game, you get access to all the features and missions.

What operating systems are compatible with R.E.P.O.?

R.E.P.O. is currently developed and released for Windows 10 or 11 PCs, with at least 8GB of RAM and relatively modest system requirements. You don't need to have a high-performance machine to pay R.E.P.O., but if you're looking to play with others, you also need an internet connection.

What are the alternatives to R.E.P.O.?

PEAK is another co-op game where you need to climb different mountains and avoid any mistakes. You can play the game solo with AI-generated teams or with your friends online. The terrain you're climbing changes every day, and you need others' help in order to survive. You can throw each other lines, help one another up a ledge, or mount climbing spikes. The game works only on Windows PCs, and you can buy it through Steam.

Content Warning is an animated horror co-op where you need to film spooky videos with your team and try to become viral on the internet. As you all go underground, your main objective is to film as many scary objects and moments as possible before you run out of air or battery life. Then you have to run back to your transport and upload your movies to watch the reaction. Content Warning is available on Steam for Windows computers.

The Headliners is a newsroom simulator where, together with eight other players, you need to snap photos of the invasion happening in your city. Once you're out on the ground, you need to explore the abandoned streets and buildings to look for news-worthy materials and then escape to share it with the world. The Headliners puts time limits and pressure on you to create entertaining broadcasts, and you can play the game on Windows PCs.
