Cellphone number portability isn’t set to go into effect here until November 24th, but the carriers, scared that their customers will abandon them in droves (as well they should), are already said to be changing their ways. We haven’t seen much evidence of it, but they’re supposedly improving customer service, increasing network capacity, and adding new cell towers, all in an effort to hold onto as many subscribers as possible come November. They should be scared too, because just about everyone we know is waiting until then to switch to the best deal they can find.
