With a name like Drobo, you can't expect this robot to spit fire or scare little kids. Instead this $699 bot guards your hard drives from sudden death by automatically sensing when things go awry with one of your HDDs. Should it detect any data corruption, Drobo springs into action repairing any foul play. The enclosure can also detect and format up to four 3.5-inch SATA drives. Pretty fancy for a HDD enclosure.
This doodad costs less, looks better, actually uses RAID, and has a gigabit ethernet jack on the back that talks FTP/SMB/CIFS/AFP/NFS so you can actually access your data:
Unfortunately, they weren't clever enough to call it a "robot."
