So Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige just said something weird.
In a new interview, when /Film asked Feige if the Inhumans were still coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Feige responded:
I think Inhumans will happen for sure. I don’t know when. I think it’s happening on television. And I think as we get into Phase 4 as I’ve always said, it could happen as a movie. I think it would be super cool.
...okay. He THINKS the Inhumans are happening on television? They ARE. happening on television. They’ve been a major part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for almost the entirety of the show. Is Feige unaware of what happens on Marvel’s primetime TV series? Does he not watch it? Even if he doesn’t have the time, it’s very strange when the president of the studio suggests he doesn’t know everything that’s happening with his intellectual property.
There is an alternate answer: Feige knows more than we know (very likely) and is obliquely referring to ABC developing an Inhumans spinoff or something similar. That doesn’t seem like a bad idea, although admittedly spinoffs from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. don’t have the best track record.
On the plus side, he does say Inhumans could still become a movie, which is awesome. It’ll just be curious to see, if and when that happens, if it addresses the fact Inhumans have already been part of the live-action Marvel universe for quite some time.
We’ll have to wait and see. But since Inhumans will be part of Marvel’s Phase 4 at the earliest, and Phase 3 doesn’t end until 2019, I doubt we’ll be getting an answer anytime soon.
