Nokia’s new N-Gage gamephone, which is set to come out October 7th, has just about the worst buzz we’ve seen for any gadget that hasn’t actually gone on sale yet; it seems like practically everyone has already decided that it’s going to bomb. Despite that, or perhaps desperate to counter the bad word of mouth that’s already been generated, Nokia is reportedly pouring an enormous amount of money and effort into trying to make the N-Gage into a hit. Whether that will actually be enough to make a difference, we don’t know, but we do know that all the marketing muscle and advertising in the world can’t counter the fact that the N-Gage will have an initial retail price of $299 (and that’s after the carrier subsidy) at a time when you can pick up a Game Boy Advance for a $100.
