If you have lofty goals of getting in shape for the new year, allow me to give you some advice. Fitness-based goals as a new year’s resolution is just setting yourself up to fail. The winter in an infamously difficult time to stay motivated. Mixing seasonal depression with the cold weather make its very easy to choose to stay at home. If you want to build healthier habits, you should start not in January but right now. Get outside running now while the weather is great for it—this way you already have a nice base of mileage under your belt before the temperature drops and you have already built running into your routine. To help you get started, set yourself up with a reliable GPS running watch such as the Garmin Forerunner 165, which happens to be on sale.

The Garmin Forerunner 165 fitness smartwatch normally sells for $250, but thanks to an Amazon deal, it’s been discounted by 22%. This takes the price down by $56, leaving you only having to pay $194 for a limited time.

Reach Your Goals With Personalized Daily Suggested Workouts

This running watch is easy to use and great for all levels of experience, whether your building up to racing your first 5K or are signed up for multiple marathons this year. The built-in GPS can track your pace and distance while the wrist-based heart rate monitor can give you a reasonably accurate reading on how much effort you’re putting in.  It can also provide you with fitness regiments as your setting out for a workout based on your performance and recovery.

The AMOLED touchscreen display measures across at 43mm and is easy to view in all lighting conditions, even direct sunlight. The touchscreen is convenient for controlling smartwatch features, but also comes with traditional buttons. This is a preference thing, but I find buttons much better to use while actually out on the road running. You can be way less precise when you are going to pause your watch or counting laps then you would have to with a touchscreen.

You can use the Garmin Forerunner 165  for more fitness activities beyond running. It comes preloaded with more than 25 activity profiles which include cyclin, HIIT, strength training, and more. It can also be used to monitor your sleep habits.

Battery life is reliable. If you’re used to using something like an Samsung Galaxy Watch or an Apple Watch, then your expectation might be that this watch will only last a few days before it needs a recharge. That is not the case. The Garmin Forerunner 165 only requires charging every 11 days.
