Garmin Mulls Exit From the Cellphone Biz

You couldn’t fault someone for not knowing Garmin also makes cellphones, as the company hasn’t exactly set the industry on fire with the likes of its M10. With that in mind, Garmin is mulling a potential exit from cellphones altogether.

So said CFO Kevin Raukman this week in an interview with Reuters, anyway, with the final answer, he said, probably coming within the “next couple of quarters.”

That final decision will be one of two paths, he said. One being they continue to invest in poor hardware and great apps (as we found was the case with the A50 and aforementioned M10), and the other being the “pull back.”

It doesn’t take much to read between the lines there, with “pull back” all but certainly meaning Garmin exists the cellphone business.
