Gizmodo Japan: Mujirushi Ryohin

The Muji style has never been more popular. Mujirushi Ryohin (the no-brand brand) has always been known for its simple esthetics and reasonable pricing, and in the past it would offer one product design for each item on sale — you would have one CD player, one pot, one vacuum, etc. But recent years has seen them expanding their range and choice selection (they’re even selling a customizable home now), with the past year seeing an especially growing electronics collection. The biggest push has been for the new black (in the past everything was in the typical Muji beige) AV products, as seen with their LCD TVs, CD/DVD players, and speaker sets. It’s interesting to note that a lot of these products have been designed to fit well with other Muji goods — one of the CD players is that same size and shape as some of their stationary boxes for instance. If you find yourself in Tokyo, the Muji flagship store in Yurakucho is a must-see.
