The internet is really good at over-analysing photos, and Google is good at bringing the internet into our homes. So for armchair amateur sleuths, this should be The Dream: a chance to find the Loch Ness Monster without having to go to dampest darkest Scotland.

It’s starting to become hard to find a place where Google hasn’t sent its Street View cameras by this stage — Everest, the Colorado River, and now over and under the surface of Loch Ness. Google partnered with the Catlin Seaview Survey to get underwater images — from the looks of things, using a DSLR rather than the standard-issue Google 360 machine.

To capture images of the surface of the 23-mile-long lake, Google strapped itself to a fishing boat running up and down the full length. As ever, you can go explore the photos for yourself. Let me know if you find anything. [Google]
