Haim just can’t move out of the shadow of the 80s. They’ve been compared to Wilson Phillips and lauded for their #dadrock vibes. So why not embrace it? Their new video is gloriously retro as only a sendup of a 1986 daytime talk show can be.
The sisters teamed with A$AP Ferg (here’s a little audio backgrounder on him) for “My Song 5” and its video, which also features an excellent Vanessa Bayer from Saturday Night Live as the “host” and cameos from Kesha and that dude from Vampire Weekend. While the song itself is decidedly not 80s, and almost a little dark, the video is entertaining and delightfully detailed, from the Dallas Murphy graphics to the shoulder pads.
The video is the latest off their last album Days Are Gone, which you’ve almost certainly heard already but is definitely worth a repeat listen. After you watch the video, of course. [iTunes]
