Hawking has a new webcam coming out called the HNC700PT Net-Vision Remote-Motion CCD Network Camera (maybe next time they could get every engineer’s name in there, too). Although it has lots of nice features, like the ability to be remotely controlled to pan and tilt, one of the most interesting is that the HNC700PT is IP-addressable, meaning you could place the camera anywhere on your network and it will operate without a computer. No word on pricing or availability quite yet, but with full feature-set, I’d expect it to be pricy.

Update: Some pricing and possible rebranding information after the jump.
Reader John Strosnider found the HNC700PT on Buy.com for a pre-sale price of $304 (they list it as $400 MSRP).

And eagle-eyed reader ‘Slopey’ adds this information about possible rebranding:
As per the recent “rebranding” fetish, the Hawking internet camera you’ve shown on Gizmodo looks awfully awfully similar to the D-link Internet Camera DCS-5300W range (check out the pictures page).
The bottom housing looks near identical, just the logos and the camera housing is different, even down to the air vent pattern on the back of the camera.
I’ve sold a few of the D-Link ones to clients, and they’re very very good. There’s even a software update which gives them controllable digital zoom onto the browser interface.
Just thought I’d let you know they look almost (exactly) similar – no idea if they are actual rebadged units from D-link or vice versa or not.
