There's plenty to get excited about in Android 2.2 AKA Froyo, but HTC offered some not very surprising reassurance to people who bought their most recent handsets, including the Droid Incredible, the EVO, the Desire, or, soon, the myTouch Slide—you will probably get Froyo! Android Central reached out to HTC and got this response:
[...] if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can't be more specific yet.
OK HTC, great, we'd hope that the phones you put out in the last five months would get the chance to taste the Froyo deliciousness. And we'd hope that other pretty much new phones, like the Droid Eris, would get the bump too. That remains to be seen, but at least for people with the latest handsets, enjoying all the benefits of Android 2.2 is just a matter of time. [Android Central via MobileCrunch]
