On the surface, NY State assemblyman Felix Ortiz’s push to ban iPhone videocalling from roads makes sense. It would be horribly unsafe! But then you realize that it would be impossible, and you shake your head.
Yes, about 3 minutes of fact checking on Mr. Ortiz’s part would have provided him with the info that iPhone 4 FaceTime videocalling is a Wi-Fi only feature, making videocalling while driving pretty much impossible. Unless you’ve got a Wi-Fi hotspot in your car, you won’t be videocalling anyone.
But hey, I’m glad you’re doing such important work, Ortiz. You clearly deserve to be in a place of power in our government. Keep it up. [NY Mag]
