Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum’s next film Passengers is coming out later this year, but it appears that he’s set his sights on a new project: an adaptation of Lauren Beukes’ novel, The Shining Girls.

When we last heard about the project, it was going to be a television series, but it seems that it’s destined to become a feature film. According to Variety, Morten Tyldum is in talks to helm the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran on board as producers. Tyldum is currently slated to direct The Last Days of Night, a film about the rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse.

We’re really excited about this: not only are we eager to see Passengers, The Shining Girls is one of our favorite books. Set between 1931 and 1993, it follows Harper, a brutal soldier who stumbles into a house that transports him through time. The house speaks to him, and he begins to hunt after women with potential - Shining Girls - throughout the twentieth century. Kirby is the one who escapes, and dedicates her life to trying to track down the man who tried to kill her.

There’s no word on when this could possibly be coming out - with Tyldum set to direct another film, the earliest we could possibly see this is likely 2018.
