The goslings over at Intel just won't give up with the hardware lines starting with V. After Viiv kind of went vlop, especially with the high-end audio/video folks, they're going to launch another pro-line called vPro—which rhymes with... escrow? Ski pro?
The line will include enchanced management features and will enable IT folks to check systems that might actually be offline or completely broken. They will use Intel's Conroe dual-core 64-bit chip as flagship for this line, which offers power and speed improvements. The systems will also use Intel's Virtualization Technology to run multiple operating systems simultaneously and to create protected environments for dumb users.
Expect to see vPro-branded PCs in 2006 next to the Viiv-branded silicone cookware and $100 UMPCs.
