Intel Releases Dual-Core Xeon CPUs Early

Intel’s dual-core Xeon aka Paxville chips will drop later this year and not Q1 2006, as previously announced. Why? And why do we care? Well, AMD is pinching at Intel a bit with their dual-core server and desktop offerings, which makes Intel cry a little. The new chips, which will probably end up in servers first anyway, will rival AMDs already heavy dual-core Opteron collection.
