An F-16 fighter has just intercepted an unidentified flying object over the Dimona nuclear research center—an Israeli nuclear weapon factory in the Negev desert. According to local media reports, it was an engine-powered unmanned balloon.

The Israeli military are “still trying to determine what that entailed,” but, if it really was an engine-powered unmanned balloon, it could have been a terrorist home-made UAV like the ones that experts have been talking about for a long time now. The fact is that, with current consumer-level remote control technology and the miniaturization of explosive and surveillance devices, UAVs could be made by anyone with internet access.
