Ever since we picked up The Republic of Thieves, we’ve been itching for a new novel from Scott Lynch. According to his publisher, the next installment of his Gentleman Bastards series, The Thorn of Emberlain, will be released in September.

Starting with The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scott Lynch’s Gentleman Bastards series had gained considerable fame since it was first released in 2006. Various installments of the series have been delayed over the years, with the third and latest novel, The Republic of Thieves coming out in 2013.

In a blog post, Lynch’s UK publisher Gollancz announced that the long-overdue fourth book in his Gentleman Bastards series will be released in September 2016:

We’re delighted to announce that publication of Scott Lynch’s brilliant new novel The Thorn of Emberlain has moved to September 2016, to coincide with his appearance as a Guest of Honour at Fantasycon-by-the Sea. September is a the perfect moment for Scott to tour the UK and celebrate the publication of his fourth novel in the Gentleman Bastard sequence, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

This is great news: the series is one of the best that modern fantasy has to offer. Amazon lists the book’s release date as September 22nd, but as of now, there’s no word on if this will apply to Lynch’s US publisher, Del Rey, as well.
