According to the Wall Street Journal, Resident Evil producer Roy Lee is now working on a reboot of the Silent Hill franchise.
The Third Hand
World of Reel reports filming has wrapped on The Third Hand, a WWI-set science fiction film from Oscar-winning director, Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist). Starring Bérénice Bejo, Rebecca Marder and François Civil, the story concerns “a young French soldier” who “is wounded in battle during WWI and wakes up in the laboratory of a mad scientist who has grafted a German hand onto his abdomen.” According to the outlet, “AI played a significant role” in getting the project made, reportedly “shaving eight days off” the film’s opening scene “on the battlefield on the First World War.” In the words of producer Vincent Maraval, “without AI, it’s ten days of shooting. With it, it’s two days.”
Breeder
Bloody-Disgusting has word Breeder, the upcoming horror film about a demented poodle breeder shifting her focus to human eugenics, is now slated for an October 28 theatrical release date through IFC and Shudder.
The Teenage Vampire
A young woman discovers her Hollywood Hills landlords are secretly vampires in the trailer for The Teenage Vampire, coming to VOD this October 27.
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2
Tubi has also released a trailer for its sequel to R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead starring Cassandra Peterson, Bean Reid, Adeline Lo, Matty Finochio, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, Bob Frazer, Seth Isaac Johnson, and Kendra Anderson.
Devour
Elsewhere, a vampire rock band’s van breaks down in a remote town filled with cannibals, werewolves, and a deadly warlock in the trailer for Devour, opening in select theaters this October 9.
Coffin Moon
Deadline reports Paramount Television is developing a TV series based on Keith Rosson’s vampire/neo-western novel, Coffin Moon, with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s production company Iron Ocean attached to produce. Developed for television by Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, the story is set “during a brutal winter in 1975” Oregon and follows “a veteran and his adopted niece as they hunt—and are hunted by—the vampire that slaughtered their family.”
American Horror Story
During her recent appearance on Good Morning America (via Variety), Jessica Lange revealed she’s playing a mysterious “fifth” character in the thirteenth season of American Horror Story.
It really was just the idea of bringing those four characters back—and one mystery character that I’m not going to [spoil]. There is a fifth character, but I won’t say who that is, and I’d be curious if anybody can figure it out.
