JVC's new GC-XA1 ADIXXION action camera is loaded, combining the best features of the competition into a compact, everything-proof package. No extra add-ons to buy. Is this the most-powerful compact action footage weapon yet?

The GC-XA1 ADIXXION weighs just 4.5 ounces and it's water, shock, dust and freeze-proof. It packs a five-megapixel CMOS sensory, shoots Full HD 1080p footage as well as 1280 x 720 footage at both 30 and 60 fps. It's also capable of shooting stills.

Like all action cameras, the GC-XA1 ADIXXION uses an ultra wide-angle lens. The 1.5-inch LCD screen allows you to review footage directly on the camera in the field, and using the camera's built-in Wi-Fi you can also beam video to your smartphone or laptop. With these last features, our biggest concern would be battery life.

So the GC-XA1 ADIXXION is absolutely loaded, and what's especially attractive is that it comes with everything already built-into the camera—there's no need for a special waterproof case, external monitor, or plug-in Wi-Fi adaptor. And the price is right, too: GC-XA1 ADIXXION The will be available in the late summer and will cost just $350. [JVC]

I have a GoPro Hero2 and although you have to buy different cases and attachments, I still prefer it. I like being able to scale down to bare bones if need be depending on what I'm filming. My only complaint I have with GoPro right now is their smartphone/tablet app hasn't been released yet. With that being said, I welcome to competition to help drive prices in the consumer's favor.
