Melancholia and Antichrist director Lars Von Trier has a taste for the unsettling and bizarre, and it’s apparently a taste he developed at an early age. When Von Trier was just 11 years old, he made his very own stop-motion animated film, and it’s pretty weird.

Turen til Squashland: En Super Pølse Film (Trip to Squash Land: A Super Sausage Film) is actually an pretty impressive bit of filmmaking for an 11-year-old, but despite the cutesy characters, it feels like a child’s nightmare. Maybe it’s the squash monsters or the bunnies who toss their heads about or the song playing in the background, or some perfect storm of oddness.

For the record, “Slut” means “End” in Danish. Pre-teen Von Trier wasn’t trying to make a comment on the sausage living with a house full of rabbits.
