Reading time 2 minutes

The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar has 24 doors between December 1st and Christmas. Behind each door there is either a minifigure, a micro-scale vehicle, or a small build drawn from the Star Wars films and TV shows. It takes about two minutes to open one door per day. This is great for families that would rather have something simple that they can look forward to opening each morning before school or work. The calendar also unfolds into a playmat background, so anything that you open has a place to be displayed.

Head over to Amazon to get the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar for just $35, down from its usual price of $45. That’s a $10 discount and 22% off.

An advent calendar with 24 Star Wars minifigures, vehicles, and builds

Your purchase includes 24 individual builds. In addition to the minifigures, each door includes a small build you can assemble in just a few minutes. By the time you finish the calendar at the end of December, you will have a small collection of models rather than a large single model. For children who get bored halfway through assembling larger models, this format works well because none of the models take more than a few minutes to put together.

Most of the calendar’s value comes from the minifigures, which include unique characters not found in other sets. LEGO also produces special holiday minifigures exclusive to these calendars, and many collectors buy them strictly for the new figures.

Between the minifigures, LEGO includes micro-scale vehicles. The ships and speeders are scaled down to fit into the palm of your hand while still capturing the shape and design of the original vehicles. These make great desk decorations long after the holiday season. Anyone who has seen the full-size versions of these vehicles and thought the price was too high can now get a smaller version for much less.

When you unfold the playmat, it transforms the box into a backdrop for displaying your creations. Children enjoy arranging their creations on the mat throughout the month as they accumulate more items, which keeps the growing pile from scattering across the table.

Ages six and up should be able to handle this calendar. Younger children can follow the directions for each build, and an adult doesn’t need to supervise every step of assembling each creation. Each door includes all the parts needed for a particular creation. Because the pieces are relatively large, young children can easily manipulate and connect them, so adults won’t have to search for missing studs that may have fallen under furniture. The calendar is also fully compatible with existing LEGO Star Wars sets your family already owns.
