The producers of the YouTube viral hit, Lonelygirl15, are about to launch a new scifi web series tracing the steps of The Resistance, which is a rebel group of citizens... who just happen to be made up of actors from the old Lonelygirl15 series. Together they work on stopping an evil society that is murdering the ladies of the future. If LG15: The Resistance starts to spawn even MORE terrible web series, I'm going to be pissed. Unless one of them features Obama Girl, Tron Guy and dinosaurs. But, that said, the LG15 trailer is promising.
The Resistance will track down the members of a secret society called The Order which is hunting down ladies with a rare blood trait, no idea why they are doing this but you can assume if there's a resistance to them, then they're up to no good. We've already got Gemini Division and 2009: A True Story to name just a few. I don't know if I can keep track with all of these half dressed ladies of the near future. Producers Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfriedtracing told Wired.com that each video will be a startling 10 minutes long. Still, the two are optimistic for the series and even plan on including "real people." Beckett told Wired.com:
We know where Resistance is going to go from a plot and character standpoint, but we produce the show in a way that makes the audience feel like they're going on the journey with the characters. For example, we'll say, "Come hang out with us at the Santa Monica Pier," and we'll bring our actors in character, in costume, to the pier.
The series premieres September 20, Lonelygirl15 was a huge hit, so we'll have to wait and see. But more importantly we've got to start thinking about new names for our resistance groups. I can't deal with any more "The Resistances," please leave your suggestions for a good alternate name for an undercover guerrilla warfare team that fights the man in the comments, please.
