Molepeople
THR reports director Rob Savage is officially moving forward with his next project, Molepeople, a “subterranean horror film” in “the vein of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes” starring LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn. Written by Nathan Elston, the story follows a man who “descends into the abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he discovers a twisted society lurking beneath the streets.”
Amanda the Adventurer
Bloody-Disgusting reports a live-action film adaptation of Amanda the Adventurer, the popular horror puzzle game, is now in development at Blumhouse. Though no director or writer is currently attached, the logine reads: “Having inherited their Aunt Kate’s house, Riley Park starts exploring what the reclusive woman left behind. In the attic, Riley is surprised to find a stack of VHS tapes next to an old TV set. The tapes seem to be episodes of an early 2000s era children’s cartoon they have never seen before. Intrigued, Riley pops the first tape into the VCR. Not the highest budget production from the looks of it. It appears to have been made locally and features a little girl named Amanda and her loyal yet shy best friend, Wooly the Sheep. While the episode appears charming and simple on the surface, an uneasiness starts to settle in as Riley realizes that Amanda and Wooly seem to be communicating directly through the television set. A gnawing feeling in the back of their mind presses them to stop, but Riley is compelled to continue watching the tapes. It’s almost as if Amanda needs something, and Riley becomes fascinated with finding out what that something may be.”
R.L. Stine’s The Babysitter
Deadline reports a live-action film based on R.L. Stine’s The Babysitter book series in now in development at Tubi with Trevor Calverley attached to direct. Written for the screen by Jem Garrard, the story follows 16-year-old Jenny as she “takes a babysitting job despite a prowler terrorizing girls across town. When threatening phone calls begin and a dangerous fugitive surfaces in town, Jenny grows suspicious of everyone around her as the danger begins closing in.”
American Psycho
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Luca Guadagnino only replied “maybe one day I would do it” while fielding a question about his planned American Psycho remake.
Jaws 5/Jurassic Park 8
During a recent Reddit AMA, Mike Flanagan revealed he “wish[es] to hell” he could direct a sequel to Jaws or Jurassic Park.
It’s so funny to me because I spent a lot of my career thinking I wouldn’t do franchises or sequels, and – whoops – but I really love getting to play in a world I know and respect and adore, and put my own spin on it. Honestly, I wish to hell I could make a Jaws movie. Another example where no one will EVER get close to the original, but there is a ton of room for improvement on the sequels. A Jurassic movie could be a blast too, I’d want to go really scary with it. A true dinosaur horror film would be a blast.
Street Fighter
Speaking with GamesRadar+, Noah Centineo praised Street Fighter stunt coordinator John Valera’s “meticulous attention” to detail in bringing each character’s unique fighting style to life.
Every character comes from a different background, pretty much, right? So there’s like over almost 150 characters, all the different backgrounds, different fighting styles, and John Valera, our stunt coordinator, had to research for every character and every fight that they were in their specific fighting style.
Yes, the signature moves in the game [are in the movie], so that he could make them fight against each other in their signature styles, in their specific fighting styles. Meticulous attention was paid to detail, and I think it’s really a triumph. The movie has insane fights, and every character is brutal.
Wednesday
Catherine Zeta-Jones confirmed filming has wrapped on the third season of Wednesday during a recent interview with Screen Rant.
Back from shooting seven months of Wednesday season 3, which is going to be phenomenal. Looking forward to everyone getting to see that. It’s a complete 360 now with me doing [Kill] Jackie. So I hope people can really enjoy both in a different way.
