Hello, young person! Do you want to get lit on a Monday night at the “exclusive after party” thrown by Microsoft? You’re in luck!
According to Twitter user Patrick Burtchaell, a Microsoft recruiter sent the below message to his roommate, encouraging him or her to... I’m not really sure, actually. Party with some nerds? Sadly toast to the fact that he or she is at a Microsoft party, and not a Facebook or Google party? Rethink every life decision that led up to this point?
The event in question, Internapalooza, is being held in San Francisco on July 11th, and includes partners like Google, Uber, and Snapchat.
In an email to Gizmodo, a Microsoft spokesperson didn’t exactly defend the email. “The email was poorly worded and not in keeping with our values as a company. We are looking into how this occurred and will take appropriate steps to address it,” the spokesperson said.
This isn’t the first time the company has tried to get in with the Youngs—it launched Tay, its teen-speaking chatbot, back in March. Of course, that experiment quickly devolved into a racist and hate speech-spewing garbage fire, so perhaps that’s not the best comparison. Then again, at least this email isn’t a “love bomb.”
