Dave Zatz, king of all things home entertainment-y, gave the MovieBeam a hands-on review and he has been relatively pleased with the service. MovieBeam is a pay-per-view movie rental device that works in a set-top box. The MovieBeam box has a 160GB hard drive that can hold upwards of 100 movies that are distributed by local broadcasters. Movie rentals generally go for $1.99 to $4.99 with select titles available in HD. One of the major downsides is that a landline is required for billing services. Zatz says it is worth a try as long as you can pick up the set-top box for the $50 deal he mentioned last month.
