Take a peak at the screen behind this small “Heart Chamber Orchestra.” Those visuals are generated by a series of electrocardiograms and wires attached to the musicians. Their heartbeats create the visuals, which become increasingly powerful as the piece unfolds.

The performance was a collaboration between music collective PURE and artist Erich Berger. There are 12 musicians in all, and every one of them is wired to Berger’s hardware/software contraption. Crazier still, the musicians see feedback on the laptops placed in front of them, which influences the music even more. [FastCo Design]
