Less than a year after it was announced (and after hisconcept art made everyone swoon), Neill Blomkamp’s Alien has been put on indefinite pause.

Here’s what Blomkamp put on Twitter:

It’s not a giant shock, since Ridley Scottannounced that Prometheus 2 would be called Alien: Paradise Lost, even though he said at almost the same time that the Prometheus movies wouldn’t connect to Alien until they got to Prometheus 4. Not at all confusing.

Even though it isn’t a surprise the studio is giving Scott the reins and shelving Blomkamp, we’ve got to say that we were more excited by his vision than by trying to parse Prometheus 2: Alien: Paradise Lost. Oh well.
