Now Norway Has the World's Prettiest Passport Too

Will the Nords ever stop in their quest for global design domination? Earlier this year Norway announced the most gorgeous currency to ever occupy a wallet. Now a redesigned passport design for the country is maybe the most beautiful one I've ever seen.

Like its currency design, Norway's new passport is the result of a nationwide competition. The firm Neue designed the winning entry, which, according to an interview with The Guardian, will start to roll out in two years.

Let's begin our drool tour with the cover, which comes in three bright colors:

Venturing inside, the pages are cleanly and minimally designed, offering this lovely imagery of fjords:

For a very special treat, here's same page under the blacklight. Hello, Northern Lights!

The U.S. is planning a passport redesign in 2016 but I wouldn't hold my breath for something beautiful. We just don't have a very good track record for these things. [Neue via The Guardian]

OK...that is nice. I wish the US passports looked as nice, but I'll just have to comfort myself with the enormous arsenal of nuclear weapons a tiny fraction of which we'll use on Norway out of spite when WWIII rears its ugly head. Nothing personal, it's just a matter of principle. Yes, this is why we can't have nice things.
