We know. We double-checked that we hadn't all made a mistake and it was April Fool's Day again. But, no, this seems legitimate: Disney's planing on making a live-action Winnie the Pooh.

In its quest to turn everything that was animated and charming into live-action monsterpieces, Disney has mined Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book already. And today Deadline beings us the news that Winnie the Pooh is next, with Alex Ross Perry (writer-director, Listen Up Philip) to take control of the project. Which, we're told, is going to focus on an adult Christopher Robin returning to the Hundred Acre Wood.

Among the io9 staff, this story set off a series of questions about which animal — in a live-action version of the A.A. Milne children's books — would be first to maul Christopher Robin. The favorite is currently Winnie the Pooh himself, by virtue of being the first. Tigger is a close second. The dark horse is Rabbit, with the assumption that he's a Monty Python and the Holy Grail-style rabbit.
