Tron Legacy might be about Sam Flynn looking for his father, but Olivia Wilde explains why it's also about her character meeting her personal God. Eliza Dushku says she wants to make the rumors of her ghostbusting into reality. Spoileriffic!
Tron Legacy:
Olivia Wilde explained some of the particular challenges that her character, the computer program Quorra, will have in forging a relationship with Sam Flynn. In doing so, she confirmed that time passes differently in Tron World, and that Kevin Flynn has been trapped there for what feels like hundreds of years:
[Sam and Quorra] are almost like siblings in a way. Quorra had been Flynn's companion and student for hundreds of years inside the Grid. He's kind of adopted her. Two hundred years there is like 20 years in the User world. He's adopted her almost like a daughter and suddenly his son Sam has arrived. All Quorra has wanted her entire life was to meet Sam Flynn. Just like we humans don't really believe in the Tron world, those in the Tron world don't really believe in humans. They could be a myth. So she's believed in Sam Flynn in a way like you would believe in a God. So, when he arrives, she's amazed and in awe but she needs to protect him. She's discovering all these emotions and feelings of attraction and love that she never understood.
She then explained the appeal of Quorra, particularly to women:
I think women will empathize with Quorra because she is not just a sexy vixen. She's not the temptress. She's not there to serve the men as eye candy which can happen all too often in Sci fi films. She's, on her own, quite powerful. She is unique in her child-like innocence. She's enthusiastic and quirky and awkward in an enjoyable way and she's really smart. I think women will like that.
There's more at the link, including why she sees Quorra as the computer program equivalent of Joan of Arc. [Teen Hollywood]
Green Lantern:
Cowriter Marc Guggenheim says that, while he can't confirm or deny the particular contents of the movie, some of what has been revealed about the movie in the licencing notes - including apparent confirmation that Parallax is the villain - is either not entirely accurate or incomplete. He also explains that, although they've only been contracted to write the story for the second movie, he does say that Greg Berlanti's original idea worked well for a trilogy, and they do have ideas in mind for how to structure an overall story, assuming Green Lantern 3 does go through as well. And he says that space and Oa are definitely both well-represented in this movie, and they made sure to have plenty of scenes on Earth, in space, and on Oa. [Newsarama]
Iron Man 3:
Get out your four-year calendars and give May 13, 2013 a big old circle, because that's when Iron Man 3 is (provisionally) coming out. You can also circle the day before that as well, because it's my 25th birthday. Never too early to start thinking presents! [Moviefone]
Ghostbusters 3:
Eliza Dushku responded to the talk that she might joining the cast of the new movie. She says she's heard nothing, but thinks it's a brilliant idea and would love to be involved:
"It would be an honor to be alongside Sigourney [Weaver]. The last I heard was Dan Aykroyd is writing the script, which I don't even know if that is truth or rumor because I got that off the Internet. But, I'll give him a call. He's an old friend. I think that could be hilarious, so hopefully with our connection... I mean, that would be awesome. I love those movies. Sigourney, man, Sigourney Weaver was just so awesome in those movies."
For the record, it's just internet rumor that Aykroyd is involved in writing or rewriting the script. I also have no idea why Dan Aykroyd and Eliza Dushku are old friends, because I don't believe they ever did a movie together. It's so wonderfully random, really. [MTV Movies Blog]
Transformers - The Dark of the Moon:
The Transformers 3 Push-Pops Board Book provides an official description for the movie, which seems to confirm Shockwave's presence in the new movie:
"The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth."
