Glenn Fleishman, of 802.11b Networking News, writes in that contrary to what ThinkSecret says, it’s not a done deal that Apple is going to support 802.11g in the next version of AirPort:
I’ll definitely bet you that Apple, if it announces an AirPort 3.0 system at Macworld, will go for dual-band, probably summer introduction, not 802.11g draft in the near future. It’s unlikely for a whole raft of reasons: Apple would have to abandon Agere in favor of Broadcom (shipping draft g chips), Intersil (coming in spring?), or TI (coming in spring). Couple to that their enterprise focus and it seems highly unlikely that the next AirPort won’t be a dual-band 802.11a/b set with upgrades to g, or maybe dual-band a/draft g.
