The FDA has approved the next generation of pacemakers with the ability to relay information over phone lines, allowing doctors to monitor patients where ever they may be. That’s good. The next step, still waiting on approval, will let doctors send the pacemaker signals to adjust it’s performance according to the patient’s needs. That’s even better. The downside? As it stands now the signals are incredibly hackable, and practically begging to be “intercepted and reprogrammed in an adverse fashion.” Translation: You can kill grandma by whistling. (Thanks, benjones!)
