As we mentioned last week, Palm is splitting up into two companies, and the part that does the hardware, Palm Solutions Group, is getting a new name (the operating system part is keeping the name it has now, PalmSource). Today we found out what it was: PalmOne, which is so boring and unimaginative a name that we hope that it isn’t indicative of the future course of the company. Besides, wasn’t the whole point that they were going to try and come up with something new that would be less confusing for people rather than to have all these different things with the name Palm attached to it?
