Steam is selling Portal 2—our sibling site Kotaku’s 2011 game of the year—for $5 today. Although this game isn’t the newest, it’s still got a huge fanbase because it has a solid co-op mode and it’s one of the few first-person games that isn’t a violent shooter. It’s also just plain fun.

The Steam version of Portal 2 works on both Mac and Windows, and if you’ve already got the game, you can give your copy to somebody else, and then play co-op with them. Hell, if you’re really in the giving mood, you can get two copies for $10. And if you don’t want to start Portal 2 without catching up on the GLADoS storyline, there’s a Portal 1 + 2 bundle for $7. Check out the deal over at [Steam.]

WTFriday: a 4K HDTV For $1200
About a week ago a TV sporting 4k resolution made by the company Seiki showed up on TigerDirect. At first, people were dubious, mainly because it sported a $1300 price tag—and if you follow UltraHD TVs, you know most of them cost as much as a sedan. Well, Mario Aguilar was able to get his eyes on one, and it’s not all hype: there’s really a 4k HDTV that real people can afford (or aspire to afford.) After the Giz pieces, TigerDirect bumped the price up to $1500, but with the code TJM88351 it’s only $1200. At that price, you can have the first TV with a 3840×2160 resolution in your neighborhood, and you won’t even need to take on a second mortgage. [Tigerdirect]
