As Supernatural enters its 13th season, with fans unsure of how long the series can continue, the show’s planning an episode about the Wayward Sisters, a group of orphaned young women led by Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) who will emerge as a force against the supernatural—and producers hope that it could become a full-fledged spinoff set in the Supernatural universe.
Joining Mills will be Sheriff Donna Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster), Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton), Alex Jones (Katharine Ramdeen), and newcomer Patience Turner (Clark Backo), a high schooler who discovers she’s a powerful psychic. Their episode will air sometime during the show’s upcoming season.
Otherwise, the Supernatural panel was surprisingly lacking in news or information. Fans were hoping to see a teaser for the upcoming animated Scooby Doo crossover, but to no avail; however, there was a sizzle reel of the key events from season 12:
But the panel’s truest highlight was, without doubt, the surprise live performance of unofficial theme song “Carry On My Wayward Son” by none other than Kansas:
So at least there’s that. Supernatural returns October 12.
