Radiohead: The National Anthem

In light of the holiday, you might hear a lot of the national anthem this week. Radiohead’s version is not one of unwavering patriotism, but it’s a bass-heavy, brass-backed banger that they play at nearly every live show.

Though it didn’t make it onto an album until 2000’s Kid A, frontman Thom Yorke actually wrote the riff when he was just 16. It was left off older records, because the band felt it too good to be a b-side. And I’m going to have to agree (partially because don’t argue with Radiohead).
