Rotomotion SR1A UAV Helicoptor System

If you’re fortunate enough to have $27,000 in the bank, you’re probably either saving up for a home or for your kid’s four years at Chico State. But isn’t that a wee bit conventional? To cop a phrase from that Viagra ad the FDA just axed, what happened to the guy they used to call Wild Thing?

A much better use of your funds might be this UAV from Rotomotion. The mini-coptor features a 52cc two-cylinder engine and an 802.11b-based telemetry system. The easiest control system is via a standard PS/2 joystick, though you’re free to customize. And the on-board software is all Linux-based, just in case you’re worried about keeping it real as you do your aerial recon.

One thing that worries me, though: The online pitch boasts about “low crash costs.” So as tempting as it might be, please refrain from placing your hamster in the cockpit.
