It’s been three decades since films like The Shining, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street first arrived on the big screen, and their villains haven’t gotten any younger. So what happens when Freddy Krueger and Jason get too old to keep chasing down kids?
Photographer Federico Chiesa, with makeup and styling help from Carolina Trotta, creating the series Horror Vacui, imagining how villains from late ’70s and ’80s movies might be spending their twilight years. It looks like things turn out much better for Darth Vader than for Jason, and sigh, those Shining twins turned into those old ladies who dress alike. I guess it’s nice that they’re still together.
