Seth MacFarlane Made a Christmas Album And It’s Actually Very Good

Technically, right now is the exact moment when the few of us who genuinely love Christmas music can flip the switch on the carols, firing up the jingle jangle jingle with reckless abandon. Should you be one of those people, I have an album all ready for you to blast at top volume. And the dude who made it? Also brought us Family Guy.

Seth MacFarlane croons his way through 13 songs in Holiday for Swing! (it’s actually his second big band-style album, but this one is way better). In a voice that sometimes is a dead-ringer for Frank Sinatra (no joke), MacFarlane breathes new life into some old classics that I happily played on repeat for several hours. Also notable are the inclusions of some lesser-known standards like “A Marshmallow World” and “Moonlight in Vermont,” so overall it’s an album that feels festive without screaming HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS. Just try not to make the same mistake I did, envisioning Stewie at the piano. [iTunes, Amazon]
