Yet another hot gadget from Sony today that’s only coming out in Japan (at least as far as we know), this one a little box that’s specially designed for recording television shows for playback on a Clie handheld. The PEGA-VR100K is basically a TV tuner that digitizes programs in a format (320×240 pixels) that can be easily watched on a Clie, and then stores them onto a MemoryStick. The next logical step would be for Sony to build something like this into its line of CoCoon digital video recorders, so that you could have the option of taking a show with you to watch on your PDA if you don’t have time to watch it at home. But I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for that.
