When it’s snowing—and you may have noticed that it has been snowing—it’s time for snow music. But I’ve covered this before. Anyway, consider this the second part of an arctic one-two punch.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more jaunty, up-beat tune about day-to-day life in the frozen wastes (no offense) of Alaska than Stephen Malkmus’ admittedly bizarre but delightful “Phantasies.” Off the ex-Pavement frontman’s eponymous solo album, “Phantasies” cheerily recounts what most would consider to be the horror of having to wake up early and head outside in frigid desert. But somehow, Malkmus manages to make it sound like a blast. So sit back, turn your heat all the way up to 11, and steel yourself to step outside on a cold Monday morning tomorrow. Unless its warm where you are. In which case, I hate you. [Spotify, Amazon, iTunes]
