A wise Canadian prophet named Stompin’ Tom Connors once declared that the good old hockey game was the best game you could name. And since it’s foolish to disagree with anyone nicknamed Stompin’, Playmobil has officially announced a new series of officially-licensed NHL toys focusing on the league’s original six franchises.
So it’s bad news if you’re a San Jose Sharks or Tampa Bay Lightning fan, come October Playmobil’s new toy line will only include players and goalies from the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
But don’t worry if your favorite team isn’t included, you can still play along with your friends. A full hockey rink set will also be available, and it will require the services of the official Zamboni set between periods. Or, you can also choose to play with the referee set which includes the coveted Stanley Cup trophy. And if you’re a Leafs fan, these new sets might be the only way you’ll ever see your team finally hoisting that cup. [Playmobil]
