The Lord of the Knights of Ren got swindled. It turns out the semi-melted helmet he opens his heart to in The Force Awakens isn’t Vader’s real helmet from his pyre on Endor in Return of the Jedi—and here’s the proof.
Darth Vader actor David Prowse just shared this picture of the actual helmet that Luke Skywalker burned in effigy (and the prop which was used in Return of the Jedi’s famous final scene) over 30 years ago to his Facebook page. Not quite as impressive, is it?
In fact, it’s kind of gross. Is that—is that hair? Was Darth Vader’s helmet made of human hair? Wookiee hair? Do you think Vader’s burning hair helmet smelled better or worse than the inside of a tauntaun?
